Same-day dental treatment: the short answer
Many dental treatments can be completed in a single visit at Dr. Gowds Dental Hospitals: a CAD/CAM crown in about two to three hours, most simple extractions, many root canals in a single sitting, tooth-coloured fillings and teeth cleaning. In selected cases, an implant can be placed with temporary fixed teeth on the same day. Treatments that need healing time, such as bone grafting, are planned over more than one visit.
| Treatment | Same day? | Typical time in the chair |
|---|---|---|
| CAD/CAM crown | Yes, usually | About 2 to 3 hours |
| Simple tooth extraction | Yes, after examination | About 30 to 60 minutes |
| Root canal treatment | Often, in a single sitting | Depends on the tooth and infection |
| Tooth-coloured filling | Yes | One visit |
| Teeth cleaning | Yes | One visit |
| Implant with temporary fixed teeth | In selected cases | Planned after a CBCT scan |
Times are a general guide from our treatment pages; your dentist confirms what is possible after an examination.
If you are looking for a same-day dentist in Hyderabad, you probably want two things: to be seen quickly, and to leave with the problem fixed. This guide explains which treatments can be finished in one visit, which cannot and why, and how to plan your visit so that as much as possible is done the same day.

Which dental treatments can be done in one day?
Crowns made with CAD/CAM, simple extractions, many root canals, fillings and cleaning can usually be completed in a single visit.
- Same-day crowns: the tooth is scanned, the crown is designed on screen, milled in our in-house laboratory and fitted, in about two to three hours. There are no putty impressions and no temporary crown. Read more about same day crowns.
- Tooth extraction: in many cases a tooth can be removed at the same appointment after examination and an X-ray. A simple extraction usually takes about 30 to 60 minutes. See our tooth removal guide.
- Root canal treatment: many root canals can be finished in a single sitting when the infection is under control and there is no swelling. Learn more about painless root canal treatment.
- Fillings: tooth-coloured fillings are placed and hardened in the same visit.
- Teeth cleaning: a professional cleaning takes one visit.
- Immediate implants: in carefully selected cases, an implant is placed and fitted with temporary fixed teeth on the same day or soon after. Read our immediate loading implants guide.
What usually cannot be done in a single visit?
Treatments that depend on healing, on the body’s response, or on several stages of planning take more than one visit.
| Treatment | Why it takes longer |
|---|---|
| Root canal on a tooth with an abscess or swelling | The infection is settled first, then the root canal is completed at a second visit |
| Bone grafting before implants | The new bone needs time to heal before an implant can be placed |
| Standard (delayed) implants | The implant joins with the bone over a healing period before the final tooth is fitted |
| Braces and aligners | Teeth move gradually over months |
| Full mouth rehabilitation | Planned in stages, with a trial phase before the final teeth |
| Surgical removal of impacted wisdom teeth | Usually planned after a scan, with a review visit |
Even then, the first visit is rarely wasted: pain can usually be relieved and the plan, cost and timeline confirmed the same day.
How to get the most done in one visit
A little preparation lets the dentist examine, diagnose and treat in the same appointment.
- Call ahead and say that you hope to have treatment the same day, and what the problem is.
- Bring any recent X-rays or scans, and a list of your medicines.
- Tell the dentist about diabetes, heart conditions, pregnancy or blood thinners, as these change how treatment is planned.
- Eat a light meal beforehand unless you are told otherwise, as numbness can last a few hours afterwards.
- Allow enough time: a same-day crown, for example, takes about two to three hours.
What makes same-day dentistry possible?
Same-day treatment depends on having the diagnosis, design and manufacturing under one roof.
- CBCT and digital X-rays show the tooth, roots and bone in detail in minutes.
- Intraoral scanners replace putty impressions with a 3D digital scan.
- CAD/CAM and an in-house laboratory design and mill crowns, onlays and veneers on site. Dr. Gowds Dental Hospitals was the first in South India to place CAD/CAM crowns, in 2012.
Dental pain or a broken tooth today?
Call your nearest branch and describe the problem. Severe pain, a swollen face, a broken tooth or a crown that has come off are seen as early as possible, and the aim is to relieve pain at the first visit.
If the swelling spreads to the eye or neck, or you have difficulty breathing or swallowing, go to a hospital emergency department straight away.
How Dr. Gowds Dental Hospitals handles same-day treatment
Same-day crowns and immediate implants are planned under Prof. Dr. Vikas Gowd, M.D.S., Prosthodontist and Implantologist, who was the first to place immediate dental implants in Andhra Pradesh. Each case starts with an examination, so you know before treatment begins what can be done that day and what needs another visit.
Same-day appointments are available at our Banjara Hills, Secunderabad and Hitech City (which also serves Kondapur) branches, Monday to Saturday, 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get a crown in one day in Hyderabad?
Yes. At Dr. Gowds Dental Hospitals, a CAD/CAM crown is scanned, designed, milled in our in-house laboratory and fitted in a single visit of about two to three hours, with no putty impressions and no temporary crown.
Can a root canal be done in one visit?
Often, yes. Many root canals are finished in a single sitting when the infection is under control and there is no swelling. If there is an abscess or severe swelling, the infection is treated first and the root canal is completed at a second visit.
Can a tooth be removed on the same day as the consultation?
In many cases, yes. After an examination and an X-ray, a simple extraction can usually be done at the same appointment and takes about 30 to 60 minutes. A tooth that needs surgical removal may be planned for a later visit.
Can I get teeth on the same day as implants?
In selected cases, yes. With immediate loading, temporary fixed teeth are attached on the same day or soon after implant placement. It depends on bone quality and how firmly the implant is held, which your implantologist checks with a CBCT scan.
Do same-day treatments cost more?
No. A treatment costs the same whether it is completed in one visit or several. The price depends on the treatment, the materials and the complexity of your case, and it is confirmed before treatment begins.
Is a same-day crown as strong as a lab crown?
Yes. Same-day crowns are milled from strong ceramic or zirconia blocks. With good oral hygiene, they are designed to last 10 to 15 years or more, like a conventional laboratory crown.
What should I bring for a same-day appointment?
Bring any recent X-rays or scans, a list of your medicines and details of medical conditions such as diabetes or heart problems. Allow enough time for treatment, for example about two to three hours for a same-day crown.
Can I see a dentist today for tooth pain?
Call your nearest Dr. Gowds Dental Hospitals branch and describe the problem. Severe pain, swelling or a broken tooth are seen as early as possible, and the aim is to relieve the pain at the first visit.
Which treatments always need more than one visit?
Treatments that depend on healing or gradual movement: bone grafting, standard implants, braces and aligners, full mouth rehabilitation, and root canals on teeth with an active abscess.
Are same-day dental treatments safe?
Yes, when the case is suitable. Same-day treatment uses the same materials and standards as treatment over several visits; it is faster because scanning, design and milling happen on site. Your dentist will tell you if your case needs more time.
